Winding down here

A bit cooler here this morning with only 77 degrees at 6am! Humidity
at 80 however. Getting ready to go back to Portland. The li ing areas
if the house wil be painted while we are away so taking things down
and stowing away. Every day at this time of year mow they predict
chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Have not seen any activity in weeks
though. But yesterday afternoon the sky turned menacing. And yet only
in one direction. We were still in sunshine. Saw a bit of lightening
and thought we were in for it and then it was gone and the sky
lightened again. Heard on the evening news that there were 1000
lightening strikes by 5pm! It had slowed by then but areas west were
getting the downpour.
You realize living in these places that you can't really tell from the
national weather report what it is doing in a particular area. Oregon
shows rain if it spits for 5 seconds! And if you look at reports for
here you would think it was raining all summer!
It IS however, raining again in Portland! I have it from reliable
sources there. 57 degrees yesterday! I am going to be freezing!
