We are exploring north eastern Oregon for a couple of days. Left this morning and drove through such varies terrain! Through. Th Gorge and green trees and basalt rock, into high desert, then wide open barren land where tumbleweed blew across the road in front of the car and the wind swept the dirt and blew so hard it nearly blew me over when we got out of the car! We sure know why we suddenly saw all those wind machines!
Just stopped at an interpretive center and saw the actual tracks left by the wagon trains when the settlers made their way west. What a harrowing trip. Hardy people and yet 1 in 10 died.
Checking into an historic hotel for the night to explore Baker City and then tomorrow on to more.
