Saturday was gorgeous, and Paula and I went for a walk described in book Portland Hill Walks. Went up to Council Crest, the highest point in the city, where four of the snow capped peaks of the Cascade range, all volcanoes, are visible. What a view! What a hill climbing up! In the 1800's, several men decided to try to get a good vantage point, and it took them two hours by horse drawn wagon! Now you can drive to the mountains you see in two hours. The peak visible behind Paula is Mt. St. Helens, at 14000 ft.
